Admission Selection Tests
The Admission Selection Process for New Students at the Casas de Cultura Estrangeira (Foreign Language and Culture Centers) is intended exclusively for candidates who wish to enroll in the first level of the foreign-language courses offered by the Federal University of Ceará, corresponding to A1S1, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
The selection process consists of a knowledge assessment conducted through an objective written test. It is eliminatory and classificatory. The test consists of 30 (thirty) objective multiple-choice questions, divided into three sections, each containing 10 (ten) questions.
The assessed content covers the following areas: Portuguese language (reading comprehension and grammar); general knowledge of the State of Ceará; and general knowledge of Brazil.

The Placement Test (TN) of the British Cultural and Language Center (CCB), at the Federal University of Ceará (UFC), is held every semester. It is intended for candidates who wish to enroll in the institution’s English-language courses and who already have prior knowledge of the language; therefore, they do not need to begin their studies in the first semester.
The purpose of the Placement Test is to assess the candidate’s language proficiency in order to place them in the semester that best matches their knowledge, in accordance with the skills and competencies required at each stage of the course. Admission is therefore granted at the level corresponding to the candidate’s performance on the assessment, subject to the vacancies available in the official call for applications.
Currently, the Placement Test allows admission to the following course semesters, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR): A1 Semester 2 (A1S2), A1 Semester 3 (A1S3), A2 Semester 1 (A2S1), A2 Semester 2 (A2S2), B1 Semester 1 (B1S1), Upper-Intermediate Semester 1 (B2S1), and Advanced Semester 1 (C1S1). The candidate’s placement will be determined exclusively by the result obtained on the Placement Test, in accordance with the assessment criteria established by the British Cultural and Language Center. Passing the examination does not guarantee enrollment, which is subject to the availability of places at the corresponding level and compliance with the other requirements set out in the official call for applications. Registration, schedule, syllabus, test-taking guidelines, and other information about the Placement Test are published each semester in the respective official call for applications, available through the official channels of the Foreign Language and Culture Centers.
