2nd. Call for Applications – English Reading Proficiency Examination – 2025

The present examination is intended to fulfill the curricular requirements of graduate programs conducted throughout Brazil.

(Exclusively for students who are officially enrolled in graduate programs)

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!

1.  Registration
1.1  Registrations will be carried out exclusively on SiGAEP (sigaep.quixada.ufc.br).
1.1.1  When registering in the system, it is VERY IMPORTANT to verify that your full name, CPF number, and email address are correct. (See schedule for relevant dates).
1.1.2  The link for the online examination will be sent to the registered email address either one day before or on the morning of the examination.
1.1.3  Only email addresses registered in SiGAEP will be accepted. For this reason, it is essential to confirm that all personal information is correct once the registration form has been submitted.
1.2  During the registration period, candidates residing in Fortaleza must register for the in-person format (priority 1), while candidates residing in or temporarily located in another city on the date of the examination must register for the online format (priority 2).

IMPORTANT: Check the spam folder if the email containing the link is not found in the inbox.

1.2.1  If a candidate registers for both formats, their registration will be invalidated.
1.3   Candidates whose documentation proving enrollment status or residence (priority 2) is not attached to SiGAEP, or whose documentation does not support the selected priority, will have their registration invalidated.
1.3.1  Documents sent via email will not be accepted under any circumstances.
1.4  Corrections to supporting documentation regarding priority status will not be allowed outside the registration period or through other means.
1.5  Subject to availability and order of registration, priority will be given to candidates enrolled in Master’s or Doctoral Programs at public universities located in Fortaleza (priority 1), followed by candidates enrolled in universities located in other cities (priority 2).
1.6  No registration fee will be charged.
1.7  The organizing committee will not be responsible for requests not received due to technical issues with computer use, communication failures, system overload, power failures, or any other transfer impediments.
1.8  Notifications of acceptance or rejection of applications will be sent via email on September 23, 2025 (see schedule).
1.9  Appeals will not be accepted in cases of rejection due to candidate’s error.
1.10  Candidates whose applications are rejected may verify the reason for rejection directly on SiGAEP.
1.11  Candidates exceeding the number of available spots will have their applications automatically rejected.

2. Vacancies
2.1  A total of 1125 spots will be offered, as follows:
2.1.1  500 spots for in-person examinations (priority 1) – exclusively for students from institutions located in Fortaleza.
2.1.2  625 spots for online examinations (priority 2) – exclusively for students from institutions outside Fortaleza or who are located in another city on the examination date.

3. Examination and Results
2.3  In-person examinations will be administered at Casa de Cultura Britânica, Humanities Department I, UFC.
2.4  Online examinations will be administered via Google Meet.
2.5  The distribution of candidates by examination date will be performed automatically by the system.
2.6  On the examination date, the candidate list and room allocation will be posted outside the Casa de Cultura Britânica (CCB) for in-person applicants (priority 1).
2.7  To take the examination, candidates must present a valid official photo ID before the start of the test. Failure to present valid identification will prevent the candidate from taking the exam.
2.8  The examination will consist of two parts: (Part 1) multiple-choice questions and (Part 2) true/false questions based on a reading passage in English.
2.9  The total duration of the examination will be 70 minutes.
2.10  Only printed dictionaries will be allowed for both in-person and online examinations.
2.11  Results will be available in SiGAEP beginning December 16, 2025 (see schedule).
2.12  Requests for grade review (appeals) must be submitted on December 19, 2025, between 08:00 and 23:00, via email to ccbproficiencia@ufc.br (see Annex 1).

Results of appeals will be sent by email on January 6, 2026 (see schedule).

4.  Certificates
4.1  Certificates of successful candidates will be made available in SiGAEP on January 10, 2026 (see schedule).

Note: Cases not covered in this announcement will be resolved by the Coordination of the English Reading Proficiency Examination (EPLLI).
